Nature

Who has ever traveled with the ship, will recognize this unique smell, once you reach Sardinia. Even if you can see just a small tip of the island, you can already smell it. Intoxicating scent of maquis, which is mixed with essential oils, thyme, wild herbs, the smell of the sea with pine, all that makes up the incomparable fragrance of Sardinia. This fragrance is addictive. Sardinia can also in the high season be a place far away from mass tourism. Once you leave the paved roads, or venture into the interior and enter the small shepherd trails, yo can find absolute peace. You feel alone and one with nature. A nature with so much beauty,  every tourist and every Sarde should show respect for it.

Dolphins and Whales
Sardinia is home to several species of whales and dolphins. Particularly in the north they are found numerous, since the area is part of a protected area. In this protected area, you can find the following marine mammals: Fin whales, sperm whales, pilot whales, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, striped and Risso's dolphins and Cuvier's beaked whales. Who wants to watch the animals in the wild can do so from June to late October depending on wind strength. The trip takes place with a marine biologist. However, there is no sighting guarantee.

Sheep and Co.
Many Sardinians still live by animal husbandry. Still now there are more sheeps than people in Sardinia, you will find some scattered around the island. Sheeps and goats climbing around all day in the mountains, they can eat the most aromatic herb and then milked in the morning. The the result is a wonderful cheese. More in 'Food and Drink ". Therefore, you meet many shepherds who march with their animals for short distances on the roads. But beware, if an animal should be approached, it must also be paid.

Cork
Sardinia is one of the most important producers of cork in Europe. You often see "peeled" Trees on the road. The cork can be peeled at intervals of 8-10 years, but the first cork peeling is an inferior cork. The fire-red bark indicates how long the peeling ago. A "peel" can only take place in July / August. This is required by law. Due to its weight, it is one of the lightest materials. Beautiful flooring, cork and wall insulation are produced therefrom.

Flamingos
Until a few years, the flamingos were only to spend the winter in Sardinia. Today they do not leave the island. Here they breed and raise their young in many lagoons on the island. These beautiful animals are very sensitive. They respond to a changing salinity in the lakes. So sensitive that they can even forget her brooding. To meet them you can find them mainly in the area around Cagliari, but you can admire them even here with us in the east of the island. In the spring directly at the small lake in Posada.

Stone formations
Wind and weather leave the most beautiful forms in many rocks that we can admire today. Capo d'Orso in Palau has left us one of the landmarks of Sardinia, a huge rock in the form of a bear. A little further west, in Castelsardo is the so-called Elephant Rock, a large rock about 5m, the adopted through the weather the shape of an elephant. Also other forms are beautiful to see along the coast. The best thing is to charter a boat.
